Restoration pictures of the Canadian "Reactine" van.

The "Reactine" van in cartoon form taken from their web site. It tells you about the vans purchase in Mexico and transported to Canada for customisation.
Checkout http://www.reactine.ca/en/index.asp
I'm not sure why they wanted a J van, they did approach at least one J type owner in Britain to see if his van was suitable. They then did a bit of a world wide search and found this one. If any body can shed light on its history or even it chassis number I would be interested to know the details.

Non standard front and rear axles, the engine that was removed was an American unit with auto box, so this vehicle had already been updated before they got their hands on it.
A real "good job" being done.
Overhead pockets for the P.A. system.
Work has started and you can see it did have the correct original axle at least.

As found, correct wheels, axles, steering wheel etc the only main parts missing are the sliding doors, who needs them in Mexico? You need all the fresh air you can get.

As I have not played with the j types for some time I have not much to report, so here are a few pictures of some sales pages and their dates.

1949Morris  August 1955 side valve engine featured.

Jan 1950
Jan 1950
December 1956
December 1956 "B" series engine featured
Austin version January 1957

I'm pleased to report that having mention on this blog that one of my J types might find it's way on to e-bay I have had a few enquires.  The first interested person is viewing on Thursday. I will not be selling straight away, not till the vehicle is up to at least the basic M.O.T. standard. It may take me two or three months to obtain this due to a lack of free time but we will carry on slowly, as spring is just round the corner the weather is warmer and the nights are starting to draw out progress should increase..
I have also added 10 more pictures to the J type album, enjoy!

Not much to report, life goes on, slightly slower!!

Another project? So much dirt and moss on it, this is "green motoring" at its best. ROD and OBL blocking the road and having a chat, they are wondering which of them will be first on e-bay.
ROD looking a bit warmer than this time last week when we had 4 inches of snow, today its almost spring like.
I will be back at my own computer from Monday. Sorry for any delay in replying to your e-mails.

Monday 16 February 2009

I'm away from the computer for a few days, so here is what I got up to at the end of last week.

More parts have been fitted back to the bike, lack of time, the cold weather and other problems have slowed me up.
The rebuilt alternator and clutch Assembly, it was just after taking this picture I remembered I had not torqued up the gear box input shaft nut, so it all had to come off again.

New rear back plate about to be fitted to the rear drum/wheel, I had buckled this doing an emergency stop, making the rear brakes bind, many thanks mini cab driver ( not his fault he is only just getting use to a car, had taken his test on an oxen cart.

Further flakes of snow and I had help fixing the motorbike.

Further snow but we got to work all Ok. Got to carry on while you still can. I had help in the garage on Saturday, fitting the new crankshaft, con rod and piston to the bike, they said your "big hens gone" not true here she is but I will have to change the name of the bike to a "Royal Henfield".

I have started to add Morris Commercial pictures (mainly J types) to the link on the right, plenty more to add, but if you have a snap old or new you would like included just send it along. Please feel free to use any of my pictures.

Mr K E SNOW! How true..

Mr K.E.SNOW, your J type's covered! So its 43 Degrees in Australia, bush fire season! I bet their full of envy for us!

Its a shame ROD is uncovered, caused by the freak weather from Russia, the high winds we had on Saturday ripped the cover off, so I thought, take it away and let the wind dry ROD off a bit, then it snowed over night. Five inches of snow and Britain grinds to a halt, no Buses, few trains and most airport back logged. Still my old trusty Morris Minor got me to work to day.
